I often hear builders say how important good service is when it comes to their subcontractors. Then, in the next breath, they drop a good subcontractor for a cheaper one.
Hey, I get it, business is all about making money. But good, solid relationships are much more valuable. For instance, I have been involved in many situations where a builder dropped a good trade partner for a lower priced company only to find out that it cost them much more money in the long run. Many times the cheaper company is no longer around after 2 or 3 years. That means the builder must pay another company to perform “Warranty” work that should have been covered. Also, homeowners deserve to have work performed by companies that will be able to provide long term maintenance, not just a quick initial install.
There is a lot more at stake than just price, especially when it comes to a house that will be a families “home”.
Just some food for thought….
